Not Tatting, But Very Proud....

Just wanted you to know why my tatting
has not been as prolific as it was in the past.
I have been tangling!

I Love This Pattern!

This will not be a large mat, which is great. I really do prefer the finer threads, usually #80, but this HDT is a #50, a bit sturdier than my regular choice. I like it.

Loving the Rectangle

Row three begun...

It's fiddly, for sure, but the shape pleases me a lot.

Maureen Made Me Do It!

You know, when I posted the last photo of the mat without a matching shuttle, it crossed my mind that someone would comment - and that is exactly what happened!

So, for you, Maureen, I took new photos; one is an update of the rectangular mat with accompanying shuttle and the other shows what came in the post today: the Girly Girl thread #80 and the 4" doily.

The shuttle I have picked is with the supplies, waiting to be wound. Whew!

Not As Easy As It Looks

This is tricky! There has been much snipping and skilful maneuvering with a Tat-Pic. Though the pattern is not difficult, it requires a lot of concentration and unbroken focus - or else!

I have seen Diane's success with this one and felt compelled to give it a try, I'm using what is left from Lea's HDT - #50.

    Times Two

This is a Norma Benporath pattern, (find over at Craftree) and was fun, easy and new to me, tatted directly onto a round doily centre.

The thread is a new #80 Lizbeth colour way, that I really like, even though it has yellow in it!

I enjoyed this project so much that I have ordered Girly Girl, #80, and another round doily to tat the same thing for Little Boss this time, and this one will go to The Boss, for her tenth birthday, with a Gift Certificate for books wrapped in it. I thought that would be a great gift for an avid young reader.

The thread for the Renukek doily has not arrived... I have reconsidered how I will finish this project and decided I will start over when the thread finally lands in my mailbox. I am going to tat it in the skinny very skinny threads, using both blues.

The longer the unfinished piece sits here, I keep picking it up and closely scrutinizing it, realizing that I do not like the heavier weight; to me it feels coarse and bulky. It is also  already a good size; those Renulek pieces grow fast, so I will keep mine smaller, tatted with #80.

I removed the last unfinished row and will leave the piece completed at about 8":

    Mail Malady

    Enough said: still waiting.

    Meanwhile...

I love this. I might give it to The Boss and make another in pinks and purples for Mini Boss. It's a fun tat and a new skill, as I have not done this type of pattern on cloth before. I am pleased. Thanks, Eliz!

See that pretty new shuttle? I got a replacement from LaCossette this week. I ordered the other one as well as the errant shuttles are not going to return. Very strange. We cannot figure out how they disappeared.

A generous Ninetta sent me way more than I requested! ( I don't sew and she is a genie with a machine) Wow! What a special parcel. Great tatting and look at that fantastic metallic Bosa lace. Thanks Nin!
