Gong Xi Fa Cai!

More 'Lello'
#25 Motif Challenge

Mom's opalescent ivory beads are perfect in this motif.  I love yellow, when it is a soft, buttery colour like this #20 Cebelia  - one of my favourites of all my threads and I hardly use it because it is so soft, yet I do really like the shade.

This is Teiko Fujito's pattern, tatting only the first round.  Yes, it is all done in only one round. Made for a wee bit of hair-pulling till I got the directions nailed down... Directional tatting = hair loss. 

By the way - I used Jane's method of attaching beads for the button ( which I found at work - isn't it sweet?) and it is a very effective way of doing things - with a safety pin. Thanks Jane!

    It's BEAUTIFUL, Fox! LOVE how you picked up the green from the leaves on the button for the inner ring of beads and the outer ring beads are WONDERFUL! REALLY nice job tatting this pretty pattern and the yellow is SUCH a welcome sight for me today, as I look out the window and JUST. SEE. WHITE.

    This is really pretty. I don't normally think of yellow as a soothing color, but this one is. It's making me think of spring here in frigid NM where there is an official state of emergency right now due to the cold.

    I love how tatting can showcase one little button, charm or small pin and give it a new home! Excellent tatting, as usual. Even the first round stands alone as an excellent design.

    Also, I'm quite anxious to try Jane's bead/paper clip method. It looks like a great way to experiment with beads without having to load the beads ahead of time.

    I normally am not a fan of yellow, but that is the most beautiful piece of yellow tatting I've ever seen! The button is so perfect for this. I'm jealous!

    I pulled the button through a long picot and held it with a safety pin. At the other end I attached it so it was symmetrical. Make sense?

    Sorry I cannot give you a link. This is from a book which you will have to track down on the Internet.

    The book it is in is: Tatted Artistry of Teiko Fujito. ( Perhaps a bit complicated for beginners, but a few patterns are very good, especially if you tat only the centre - as I have done here.)
